The teams from North, Central America and the Caribbean have advanced in three of the five duels heading to the World Cups.

The first they faced was for the World Cup Chile 1962; Mexico sought its ticket against Paraguay. With back-and-forth games, the Aztec team obtained the pass by beating the Guarani team by the minimum difference.

It was not until 1993 that the second tie was played with a team from another area. With the United States as host, FIFA decided that the neighboring country to the north would occupy a place, the second went to Mexico while the half ticket was disputed by Canada against Australia. After going 3-3 on aggregate, the Oceanic team won on penalties 1-4.

For the 2006 FIFA World Cup Germany Concacaf already enjoyed three and a half tickets. Through direct elimination they advanced United States, Mexico and Costa Rica. Trinidad and Tobago faced Bahrain (Asia) and obtained the pass by winning 2-1 on aggregate.

In 2010 the area was not lucky. The box of the Stars and Stripes, the Tri and Hondurans passed directly. The Costa Ricans were measured against the representative of Conmebol, Uruguay. Despite being a close series they succumbed at the end 1-2.

Mexico faced its second tie against another confederation in 2013. The team then led by Miguel Herrera played against New Zealand and with a base made up of Club América they advanced by scoring 9-3 on aggregate.

With a barely positive balance of three qualifiers won and two lost, it is the turn of Honduras, a squad that could not beat Australia at home, so they will have to play their place for Russia 2018 in Sydney.
