The IFFHS published the ideal team of South America of the last decade

The International Federation of Football History and Statistics (IFFHS) published this Tuesday the ideal team of South American football for the last decade (2011-2020), which is only made up of players from three countries: Argentina, Brazil and Peru.

According to the IFFHS, Julio César is the best goalkeeper of the last ten years within CONMEBOL. At the same time, the defensive line is made up of Dani Alves, Thiago Silva, the Argentine Javier Mascherano and Marcelo.

The midfield is also divided between Brazilians and Argentines with Casemiro, Ángel Di María and Lionel Messi.

ANDn the attack appear Sergio Agüero, Neymar and as number nine the Peruvian Paolo Guerrero.

Although the aforementioned federation did not publish the scores that led to this selection, some absences are striking, in particular Chilean and Uruguayan soccer players, or for example the non-presence of Colombian James Rodríguez.

In the case of the Red (combined champion in the Copa América 2015 and the Copa América Centenario 2016), for example, could have been represented by its midfielder Arturo Vidal.

As for the Uruguayan National Team, the absence of Edinson Cavani and Luis Suárez stands out. Both were champions of the 2011 Copa América played in Argentina, where the current Atlético de Madrid striker was also chosen as the best player of the tournament and the final. It should be noted that Suárez was the top scorer in the Qualifiers for Brazil 2014 with 11 goals, and Cavani was the top scorer on the South American road to Russia 2018 with ten goals converted.

In turn, the IFFHS also published its ideal eleven of the last decade worldwide with the german Manuel Neuer as a goalkeeper; the defenders Philipp Lahm, Sergio Ramos, Virgil Van Dijk Y Marcelo; Tony Kroosthe Spanish Andres Iniesta and the Croatian Luka modric; and in attack Cristiano Ronaldo, Robert Lewandowski Y Leo Messi.

This Federation also shared on Tuesday its ideal eleven of women’s South American football in the period 2011-2020having in the arcChilean Christine Endler. The defensive line is made up of Brazilians Fabiana (right back), Erika (right defender) and Tamares (left back), and Chilean Carla Guerrero as left back.

In the midfield are Formiga and Debinha (both from Scratch) and Argentina’s Estefanía Banini; and in attack Yoreli Rincón (Colombia) and the Brazilians Christiane and Marta stood out.
