The CrossFit Games came to an end at the weekend, the showdown of the fittest people on the planet. With Mat Fraser and Tia-Clair Toomey, last year’s winners won, but a German also came up trumps.
Mat Fraser has done it again! For the fourth time in a row, the 29-year-old American won the CrossFit World Championship and was crowned the fittest person in the world! At the 13th «Reebok CrossFit Games», which were held from August 1st to 4th in Madison (Wisconsin), Fraser fought an exciting duel with his compatriot Noah Ohlsen, who ended up on the podium for the first time as second overall. Third place went to Icelander Björgvin K. Guðmundsson.
Ohlsen even led the overall standings for two days after Fraser had a point deducted on day two for falling weights out of his backpack during event 3, the «Juck».

No problem for Fraser: «That just motivated me to step on the gas and make up for the lost points.»
Before the last competition, Fraser greeted him from the top of the overall standings again, but because Ohlsen was still breathing down his neck, a top performance was needed. In the final event, The Standard, which consisted of 30 clean and jerks (a combination of two weightlifting moves), 30 muscle-ups on rings, and 30 snatches, Fraser kept his nerve (and muscle strength) to secure the 1st place in the challenge Title. Toomey completes the hat trick
For women, Tia-Clair Toomey (26) was crowned “fittest woman on earth” for the third time in a row. The Australian’s greatest strength is weightlifting. With her flagship discipline, she even took part in the Olympic Games (2016 in Rio) and won the gold medal in the weight class up to 58 kilos at the 2018 Commonwealth Games.
Kristin Holte from Norway and Jamie Greene from New Zealand came in 2nd and 3rd.
Joshua Wichtrup on a strong 18th place
The Flensburg fitness professional Joshua Wichtrup was the only German to start. The German champion of 2015, 2018 and 2019 made it to a strong 18th place in his world championship debut among 144 participants.
Lisa Eble, Germany’s number one women, finished 51st in her World Championship debut.
