Pharmacies throughout Germany have not been able to issue corona vaccination certificates since Wednesday (July 21). The German Association of Pharmacists (DAV) has now announced that the issuance of digital vaccination certificates has been stopped in consultation with the Federal Ministry of Health.
Why are digital vaccination certificates no longer issued in pharmacies?
The «Handelsblatt» had succeeded «with the help of professionally forged documents» on the DAV server to create guest access for a non-existent pharmacy owner, with which two vaccination certificates were then issued. The registered business premises are currently being checked. But so far there is no evidence of other unauthorized access.

The “Handelsblatt” said on request that it was correct that the sheet had uncovered a serious security gap in the creation of digital vaccination certificates. “However, the “Handelsblatt” itself did not gain access to the system; two IT security specialists have disclosed the vulnerability and thus demonstrated that there are clear deficiencies in the portal,» said a spokeswoman for the publisher.
According to the DAV, it is not yet clear when pharmacies will be able to issue vaccination certificates again. However, it can be assumed that the more than 25 million vaccination certificates that have been issued so far all come from legally registered pharmacies.

Where can I get a digital vaccination certificate from now?
Referring to the Federal Ministry of Health, “T-Online” reports that those who have already been vaccinated in the vaccination center will be forwarded the QR codes by post “in the majority of the federal states”. Alternatively, the digital vaccination certificates would be “made available to them via online portals”. Those who have been vaccinated by a doctor should contact the doctor for the vaccination certificate.
