Gabriel Jesus: I want to put my name in the history of Brazil

Gabriel Fernando de Jesús, at 21 years old the youngest of the list of 23 players who is getting ready to play the World Cup in Russia, said this Thursday that he intends to reach a place in the history of Brazilian soccer, but clarified that his first objective is to help the team to win the title.

«I want to put my name in the history of Brazil,» emphasized the Manchester City striker during a press conference after training in which coach Tite confirmed the starting eleven.

Gabriel Jesús, tip of an offensive rhombus that Canarinha exhibits without defeat and with many goals, and completed by Neymar, Coutinho and Willian, was respectful of the Brazilian idols of the past and even declined an aspiration to become a scorer in his first World Cup .

These four players have scored 34 goals of Brazil’s 47 in the Tite era.

«We have to take into account those who made stories. I don’t want to erase someone’s name, I want to put my name next to them,» emphasized the Sao Paulo player.

«Our focus here is the collective game. If we work well, the individual will appear,» he declared.

He guaranteed that he will be happy if the goals are scored by others because his desire is to help with assists, effort and scoring.

He highlighted Canarinha’s quality of maintaining balance and quality even when changes occur.

«The Brazilian team is very strong, very good. The teacher substitutes and the level remains the same, or even higher,» he added.

Regarding his condition as the youngest player, he said he felt supported and seen «as a boy who comes to help.»

Regarding rematches for past defeats or opponents he wanted to face, Gabriel Jesús was emphatic: «I will never dream of a final with a certain team. I just want to be in a final with Brazil.»
