ARLINGTON – The Mexican soccer team will have its second home, on and off the field, in Dallas-Fort Worth.

The Mexican Soccer Federation, the Dallas Cowboys, Soccer United Marketing and FC Dallas announced a partnership for the Tricolor to play at least one game annually, starting June 9 at AT&T Stadium in Arlington, until 2022.

It will be a preparation game for their various official tournaments, including the qualifying round for the next World Cup.

Cowboys Vice President Stephen Jones said that since the stadium opened in 2009, they have seen the passion, following and competitive level of the Mexican National Team in and around Dallas as motivation to bring together two of the most recognized sports brands in the world. American continent.

He added that part of the agreement has to do with choosing matches that meet excellence in terms of play and competition.

“Since we conceived the idea of ​​building a stadium like this to date, we have always tried to bring the highest quality sporting events and taste of the fans in any discipline,” said Jones Jr. “It will continue to do so for the selection of games of the Mexico’s national team, which will surely have to look for the best matches that are suitable for its preparation for the tournaments in which it participates”.

The agreement includes community, school and social activities, as well as festivals in downtown Dallas for Tricolor fans.

FC Dallas will also make its infrastructure available to the Mexican National Team so that they can train and prepare for their tours of the United States, both at the Toyota Soccer Complex and at Moneygram Park.

The general secretary of the FMF, Gilberto Hernández, pointed out that the Cowboys and Soccer United Marketing presented the project, which from the beginning seemed interesting and important.

“We are very pleased to start this partnership, not only for the opportunity to collaborate and exchange ideas with important colleagues in the sports industry, but also for the opportunity to bring the Mexican National Team plus its fan base, which has shown its passion. and commitment to the team,” Hernández said.

The Mexican National Team has played seven games at AT&T Stadium since its opening in 2009 with a 5-1-1 record. Their last game last summer was against Croatia, finalists of the most recent World Cup.

Hernández acknowledged that the deal with the Cowboys, SUM and FC Dallas will also serve to establish the bases of the Mexican National Team heading to the 2026 World Cup, which will be carried out jointly by the United States, Canada and Mexico.
