Climate exercises –

(Mackenzie 2019) In addition to static climatic factors (latitude and altitude), it should also be noted the performance of dynamic factors on the climates found in the Brazilian territory: the air masses. They are large extensions of air that have characteristics of temperature, pressure and humidity of the regions where they form. For example, the masses that start to move from the equatorial line are warm, since this is the region that receives the strongest insolation on the planet. The masses that acquire movements coming from the poles are cold, due to the little heating of that part of the planet. Five large air masses frequently act in Brazil.

Regarding the air masses that act in the Brazilian territory, analyze the following statements.

I. The Continental Equatorial Mass (mEc) originates in the Eastern Amazon. It operates only in the summer months, that is, from December to March.

II. The Atlantic Tropical Mass (mTa) is most felt along the coast of the North and Northeast regions, as it is formed by the trade winds that blow from the subtropical high pressure zones of the Northern Hemisphere.

III. The Continental Tropical Mass (mTc), hot and dry, acts mainly in the Center-South of Brazil, influencing the temperature and relative humidity of the air in that region.

It is correct what is stated in

a) I, only.

b) II, only.

c) III, only.

d) I and II, only.

e) II and III, only.
